I’ve been digesting a lot of books lately and here is the list of ones I have enjoyed and recommend. I’ve read most all of these cover to cover or listened to them while I exercise, the exception is Linchpin which I am reading now and the Steve Blank books which I need to finish. For anyone wanting an Entrepreneurs education I think this is a great list to look through. I’ve been sharing this list with my network, and perhaps others might find it helpful.

Brad Feld’s Burning Entrepreneur – How to Launch, Fund, and Set your Startup-Up On Fire! (Short read, a rehash of the best posts on Brad’s blog. Great insights to be had here, and good if you just started following Brad to get an idea what he is about.)

The Lean Startup: How Today’s Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses – Eric Ries (A great introduction to lean startups, very important that you read at least this one form the list.)

The Toyota Way to Lean Leadership – Gary Convis, Jeffrey Liker (In depth book about how Toyota pushes decisions to those doing the work and empowering everyone to make change in the organization)

Running Lean: Iterate from Plan A to a Plan That Works – Ash Maurya (A book full of good examples of how a business grows from idea to execution using lean startup ideas)

Startups Open Sourced – Jared Tame (interviews with lots of startup founders that has some interesting insights, lots of ycombinator graduates in candid interviews)

Linchpin – Seth Godin (Finishing this now, awesome book about being an artist not a cog)

Do More Faster – David Cohen, Brad Feld (This is an easy read, but super insightful, talks about various startup issues, potential pitfalls, and how to execute FASTER.)

Venture Deals – Jason Mendelson, Brad Feld (Stuff about venture capital, well worth the listen or read)

The Startup Owner’s Manual – Steve Blank (only read parts of this, more of a reference manual on customer development process. Reads like Stereo instructions at times, but super dense and full of so much great content and advice.)

The Four Steps to the Epiphany Successful Strategies for Products that Win – Steve Blank (have not read but just bits and pieces yet, but its one of the next ones on my list to tear into.)

Having watched your TED talk I reckon you will be intrigued by the Skidelsky book – one of the most interesting books I have read this year, especially as an entrepreneur working unholy hours. It asks why as a society we are not working 15 hour weeks, as Keynes predicted, despite society becoming as prosperous as Keynes envisaged. The main reasons were he failed to predict population growth, and also failed to take into account, as per Gary Becker, that when people are earning a certain amount of money it becomes unfeasible or unattractive to renounce the hours, to earn less.

Congrats on making the list Brad. I started reading books from your Shelfari list and might have to buy you a beer for recommending such a great list. jonathan livingston seagull is a great recommendation.
