15 Years Of Technology Progress

Next week at Defrag I’ll be giving a talk titled “Resistance is Futile”. I’ll be talking about my premise that the machines have already taken over. A few days ago a friend of mine emailed me a perfect image to summarize where we are today. Ponder and enjoy.

    Brad,

Hilarious and so true… Great seeing you again out in Portland for the Q&A at Urban Airship!

Portland was awesome – I had a great two days.

Weird, I figured it’d be the same image,, only of a phone.

Did you draw the pictures in the left? They are horribly terrific. So much expression in a stick figure. Never thought that was possible!

These aren’t my pictures. I don’t know the original source, but I thought they were brilliant and needed to see the light of day.

This is an internet meme where the same images are mashed up to make hilarious observations about everyday life. Cheers!

        FTFY,
This is an internet meme where the same images are mashed up to make rarely hilarious, most often banal and repetitive observations about everyday life. Cheers!

Tom Ashbrook, host of On Point at WBUR, did a segment in association with the publishing of “Race Against The Machine” (see http://www.amazon.com/Race-Against-Machine-Accelerating-ebook/dp/B005WTR4ZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320280742&sr=8-1) about machines (computers and robots) taking over jobs done by people.

WOW Brad. This is an AMAZING graphic.

Great graphic! I’ve always found social networks to be somewhat counter-productive towards their cause. Sure they enable us to make connections with people around the world, but they replace the in-person connection with someone down the street with an interaction with cold hardware. It’s also kind of good – I appreciate in person conversations more now than ever.

    Brad,
this is truly funny (and accurate), but it is outdated isn’t it?
The desk & screen are gone!
We are walking and doing all this on mobile devices…well, almost all.

Sort of, although I’m typing this response on my Mac!

So what you’re basically saying is that we can now find all of our
entertainment and communication in one place on one device.  No more
purchasing expensive musical instruments, no more asking for porn
magazines at your corner store, no more changing CDs every few minutes
when you want to listen to a variety of music and no more having to pay
for a newspaper to only read a few interesting stories.  I don’t know
exactly what the creator of this comic is trying to convey, but all I
got from it is that technology has saved us a shitload of time and
    money.  Thanks internet.

I liked how you removed his left hand in the last picture
