I get you point about honesty, but a visionary idea is actually one step ahead of what the customer asks for. This is a very tricky way to think, as most products people say they dont want they really dont. What this pull concept can lead to though is stale invention, and an absence of disruptive tech. Market research and advise have their place, but so does pure creativity, technological research and even improvisation.
