While I’m not an investor in Kidrobot, I’m a huge fan. Paul Budnitz is moving with about half of the 45 person company from New York and plans to hire another 20 people in Boulder in pretty short order. Look for life sized Kidrobot thingies on the Pearl Street Mall this summer.

Regarding VCs trying to fund a company that doesn't need it, I think it's a sad reflection. Kind of "to get a loan from the bank, you need to prove that you don't need it". They should focus on companies that need funding, not the ones that don't.

from what research I have done it seems to be much cheaper to live near boulder (and commute just a couple of miles into town) than it would be to live near silicon valley. (Housing prices in Erie are very similar to how they are here in South GA)

I think that has a huge appeal to developers who are wanting to work for startups but do not want to spend a ton of money on a house/rent. It is definitely the driving factor for me at this point.

So exciting to see Boulder become a tech startup hotspot. I grew up there before moving out to silicon valley & SF, and it was always an entrepreneurial town…back then it was Celestial Seasonings and outdoor product companies, then things like telecom, data storage, and Crocs, and now it seems like the town is hitting its stride in web and software. Go Boulder!

Yeah everyone keeps talking about how bad things are, but I look to boulder and can only see positive things happening. It's great to see companies are still raising money and finding their exits.
