StartupTrek interviewed Vikas recently while on our Boulder startup tour, and we have been using it ever since. I used it a week ago at Fry's electronics in Wilsonville, OR (just South of Portland); and today in Kailua-Kona HI - both times getting extremely useful information re: whether to "buy on the spot", or order online (turns out, Fry's REALLY DOES have the best deals).

Our interview with Vikas was terrific, and we have it in post-production... I'll post here once we bring it online!

Red Laser is one of the best apps for the iPhone... no doubt.

I love hearing stories about companies that are successfully bootstrapping.
RedLaser also points out some of the characteristics I think make TechStars companies successful. I just finished a post trying to synthesize some of the things I think you are looking for when you accept companies into the TechStars program. RedLaser nails the first couple on the head… http://www.startable.com/2009/12/27/techstars-bos...

[...] How you prove it: Have real, working demos or alphas that blow their socks off. Really impress them. Do something totally new with a piece of technology, even if it is not related to what you want your company to do. Check out what Brad Feld says about why he liked the founders of RedLaser.
Gotta love the bootstrappers.

Similar story for the HP founders - they just wanted to work together, didn't matter what they were building/selling...
