I really like that (celebrating each month) and like yours and Amy's other traditions such as going off the grid. Hope you have a nice night and hope I find my Amy someday although the prospects aren't good being in a town of 11,000 (albeit a beautiful town), most of the single women not having all their front teeth and my turning 40 last week. Oh well, off to walk my dog, life is still pretty good. Great talk at MIT by the way. I watched it in full and recommend it to others.

I just received the 3 books from the Baroque Cycle today after finishing Cryptonomicon which left me exhausted and a little deflated but hooked enough to try again (I wonder if that is intentional?)

Perhaps you can ask him if he has, or has considered, writing children's novels that mix hard factual science/history with a fictional story? I think I found learning something interesting from Cryptonomicon as the most enjoyable part.

I was excited to hear he'd be at the Boulder Bookstore tonight, but then bummed when I realized it conflicts with my daughter's soccer practice (I coach)... so I'll watch for an update tomorrow if there were any insights.

I wish there were more writers like Stephenson, mixing quality fiction with high-tech and scientific topics. I'm halfway through Anathem now and it's picking up speed nicely. The vocabulary takes some getting used to, but it's worth it so far. Cryptonomicon is an all-time favorite, particularly for the diversions into prime numbers, encryption, and other geeky topics.
