If you want to get into really OLD computer generated stuff, I believe I may just have a copy of "Quest: A Long Ray's Journey Into Light" that was done in the mid 80's at Apollo Computer, where I was working at the time.

Man, I miss the old siggraph days where every year you'd be blown away by the advances in animation and even just some water sloshing around a glass would garner great applause and excitement.

The really cool bit about the early pixar stuff is how well they've withstood the test of time (you know, all of a decade). Even then the concentration was really on really good stories with the animation in a supporting role. Pixar's a storytelling company that happens to do some good animation work.

Computer animatied movies have made great advances since inception. I hope they do not eventually migrate to becoming crap the way cartoons did. When I was a kid, most cartoons were good and had interesting stories. Now you have annoying characters and no poor story lines like Sponge Bob. We can all be hopeful that the animation will continue to improve and, like Bruce eluded to, Pixar will continue to tell good stories.
