Any must see attractions in Positano?
It looks gorgeous, but you should have taken some time off from all that working out - just call it carb loading - eat lots of carbs, burn none off :)

Brad: Was just in Positano early this year. Truly an amazing town and the ocean-side drive, while many in the valley will not believe me, really tops Highway 1. I wouldn't believe it if you told me but the cliffs and scenic overlook on the water is truly a sight to see. I loved Positano, I wasn't there a week but can see how spending a week there would be easy.

Pompei must be incredible. I have always wanted to go! Is it heavily trafficked, though? I did research on ancient cities in Greece and Turkey and ultimately preferred the emptiness and lack of guards/marked paths in Turkey. Still, an ancient city is an ancient city, and Pompei is near the top of my list of ones to see!

Jil and I ventured out to Pompei and Ravello on a day trip, which was worth it. Otherwise, just enjoying the city and stunning views is the best. Oh, and the hike up to the tennis court. A must eat restaurant is Donna Rosa way up on top of the hill.

It's much larger than I had envisioned, and just amazingly well preserved. There were many people there visiting (probably 1,000) and it's "touristy", but it's so large than I often found our small group (of three, we had a private guide) pretty "alone" in the city. near the central square, etc, there were throngs. but at times, i literally felt as though i could have been walking around just as the Romans did.

My favorite part of the Amalfi coast is called Trail of the Gods (sentiero degli Dei). You start the hike above Amalfi and hike a couple hours where you arrive above the city of Positano. It's a decent hike, but nothing too bad. At the end of the hike it's 1000 steps to get to Positano. Or you an grab a cab or bus half way down. If you thought the bus ride was great, this hike is one of the most incredible hikes I've ever done.

I also recommend dinner at one of the many restaurants above Positano where you get more food than you could ever imagine. Ours was 7 apetizers, 5 pastas, 6 meats, salad, fries, bread, 3 deserts and all you could drink. The food there is something else.

I love, love, love Positano (though I might have loved Capri more :). We stayed at Palazzo Murat during our honeymoon, a charming old hotel right in the middle of town. I think the best part of there's nothing you "have to do" - just sitting there and enjoying the stunning views is enough :)

That said, I would highly, highly recommend a trip to Il San Pietro - it's not cheap, and it's not actually "in" Positano (they have a free shuttle you can call for), but it's quite an experience.

I'm suddenly very jealous!

Ah - sorry I didn't broadcast well enough in advance! I usually do this effectively enough somewhere for a hookup when I'm not totally off the grid.
