Go Speed Racer, Go

Will Herman reminded me that Speed Racer the movie is arriving on the scene on May 9th.  Speed Racer is the cartoon of my childhood.  A few years ago I bought all the episodes on DVD and watched them one after the other one weekend until my head exploded.  I used to be so hot for Trixie and Racer X was like the big brother I never had.  I can’t wait for the movie.  I am so pleased that the Wachowski Brothers created it.

    I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to have the hots for a cartoon character – of course I loved Speed! I thought I was the only one excited about this coming to the big screen, glad I'm not. I think there is also a new cartoon, something like “Son of Speed Racer”, and they drive the Mach 6 now. I saw a commercial but I'm not sure where to find it though (as if any of us have time for that now…I only know because I have two boys under the age of 6!).

    Thanks for the post Brad – we are the same age and my favorite cartoon was Speed Racer. Trixie is hot and i wanted her bad. Speaking of sexy cartoon characters, I always felt a bit confused when Bugs Bunny was in drag. I digress.

    One of my earlier memories is of being distraught at the pending cancellation of Speed Racer on whatever netwrork aired it. As I recall, my father wrote a letter on my behalf protesting the decision.
