The entire company of Rally uses agile principles to run the business. It is the most dynamic and effective organization that adapts to its needs that I have ever been a part of in my career. It is not just about software development, it is about being competitive and responsive in the market.

Anything can be managed to an iterative process and done so with more focus, precitability and responsiveness than traditional management methods. I work in sales and us Rally to keep focused on our accounts and objectives both short and long term. It gives me perspective on my velocity of effort that can be applied effectively and always to the highest priority. If you think software is the only market...watch out.

Agile and its variants are a great way to manage the product development process. Rally looks like an amazing tool. XPlanner is another tool (free) that's a great way to "dip your feet" into the Agile process. We've been using XPlanner in-house for several years now and are looking forward to eventually upgrading to Rally, as it offers some really fantastic features.
