Brad, if you ever find yourself in Nashville, you should give the Percy Warner main drive a shot. It's 11.2mi of beautiful, grueling hills - see http://www.harpethhillsmarathon.com/maindrive.htm...

Did you trip and fall at the 6 mile mark? Looks to be a very sudden drop of ~150m.

Nope – straight downhill (probably 30%+ grade) for a short period of time.

Nice downhill course. I like to ease into a new week, too.

I have a Garmin 305* but I've never even strapped on the heart rate monitor, let alone looked at any of the plots. I just use it to set my pace during training and to wing long runs (beats the alternatives of running the same course over and over or driving a new course the night before and trying to remember the mile markers the next day). But this post and the ones on your search for a new running log are encouraging me to start using the Garmin for all it's worth. I took a couple of runs in Egypt over Thanksgiving vacation that I'd love to see satellite views of.

I enjoy reading your blog as much for the occassional running post as everything else. Thanks for the entertainment.

Sincerely,
Rob Campbell

* Two, actually. I lost the first one just before Christmas; I became convinced I threw it out with a stack of old mail. My wife gave me a replacement for Christmas, then I found the old one in a stack of clean t-shirts a week later. This will make it especially hard to justify a new 405, based almost purely on aesthetics.

I always hated running! Loved the results of running (being fit, being on weight), but hated the process. :) But, I did a lot of it back in HS (cutting weight for wrestling). What I thought was good distance, you put my running to shame, Brad! Right now, I'm getting off my lazy butt and build back some stamina for Bay to Breakers in May (12K)... probably something too weak for your level. Nevertheless, I love how running shapes other areas of my life -- eating healthier, being greener, and waking up earlier.

Nice job Brad. Combats that fire-starter article about bloggers dying. The point is get off your fat ass and live a little bit. Eating and drinking as your only breal when you aren't typing doesn't count.

I was right behind you up until mile 4. After that I was the guy stopped at mile four depositing breakfast on the side of the road looking for my lungs.
