Aww Fred, i knew the wife wouldn't throw the Mac Book Air on purpose..."The Mac Air is soooo compact it can appear invisible and disappear into thin air..." - this would be a great tagline for an advert. lolzzzz!

Wow, lots of dislike for the mba here, I for one think it serves a very specific purpose and it does that with relative efficiency. I'm hoping the next generation will be functional enough to fit my needs - I HATE carrying my MBP.

So while it may suck and I myself have made fun of it, I'm typing my comment on a MacBook Air. Work got it for me and for many/most business people who aren't coding every day anymore, it is very usable. One caveat -- I kept my PC laptop and use both. So obviously not perfect. Built in Verizon wireless card would help get there.

This whole "the macbook air is tiny" crap is completely overblown. It's 3 lbs. The same as my X61 lenovo. Yes, it's thinner, but it's no lighter, and it's a good deal more less functional.

And yes, my Lenovo X61 fits into seatpockets on planes.

I think that this slim new expensive MacBook air would break within a day of my clumsy use. Although I do respect mac for their capabilities - I think they should have stayed away from trying to go slimmer. I mean everyone knows that we can squeeze technology down to the smallest objects (I am still impressed by the OLED 52" tv coming out that are as thick as 5 credit cards.) However, a slim laptop doesn't impress me all that much. I would hands down go for the MacBook verse the Mac air anyday!

I walked into the Apple store on Saturday with an objective - getting the MacBook Air.

My brother and three Apple salesmen talked me out of it and ended up getting the best Macbook.

In retrospect, after hearing so many stories of why the MacBook Air sucks, I am happy to have gotten the standard Macbook.

I seem to be hearing a number of stories that the MacBook Air is too convenient. Wasn't there a story about someone set their computer on some papers and their wife threw it out with the recycling? And Ryan with leaving it in the seat back in the airplane. Where does it end?

I have not heard about someone throwing it out but I do think its kind of a waste of technology. I don't really see the convenience of having such a small laptop...its not like the normal ones that are already out are too tough to lug around. I can absolutely imagine these breaking with ease. I would rather see the initiative be put into something a little more engaging with programs of software (inclusive of course) versus a feather light macbook. I still have trouble coming bringing myself to buying one because I never use them at work ...even if they might be some of the better looking laptops on the market.

It is very difficult to trust thin and micro anything. Just one look and you just ask yourself did all the parts fit in? Besides, I feel sorry for that man who left his because it was too light to be remembered...The one feature it marketed is the one that makes it unreliable...
