I work for what was a startup here in Boulder. We are in software tech, and were looking for a comp sci student to fill a short term paid position. Nothing too advanced, but interesting work.
We emailed the dept, and someone told us to post to a mailing list. We did with a very attractive description, and got no response from students at all. I wonder if any are subscribed to the list.
I also know a couple grad students in the dept who talk about the lack of resourcefulness and motivation of the students there. When I asked them to pass around mention of the position, they said that none of their classmates likely would be interested or able.

There seem to be some great ideas in the paper that unfortunately don't match up with the current climate on campus at all.
It's great to see the issues being discussed and hopefully some of the ideas implemented regarding campus culture to improve the entrepreneurial energy and academic-private enterprise interaction here.
