We have had mobile clients in the wild for quite a while as well. Brad was just pointing out that some of the work done recently has revolved around making the mobile experience more enjoyable and easier to get up and running.

hey miker (recognize your name from russell's blog)... thanks for the tip on the UA and, yeh, the create account functionality is in the works for the java/blackberry client.

btw, using skweezer is an option you can select for viewing source articles from w/in go! (windows mobile only right now).

best of luck w/ mowser - looks awesome and have been a long time fan of russell.

The app itself is pretty slick. It didn't detect my N95 on it's own, so I just downloaded the Java version. Here's the UA.

Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95-3/11.2.009; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413

I had to create an account on the desktop website as well, didn't see the option to create a new account from within the mobile app. That would actually be pretty slick IMO, lots of folks out there in other countries who this would be a fantastic app for, but who don't have access to desktop computers most of the time.

It would be great to allow the app user to set an adaption engine to use when pulling up the full version of a story, otherwise many devices could choke on the page and fail to display. I'm working on one called Mowser, info about using it is here:

http://pub.mowser.com

But there's also a public service from Google and services like Phonifier and Skweezer.

It took me a bit to make sense of this sentence: "If there's one download option we detected your device."

I suggest having the copy respond to whether or not my device has been detected. Or, better yet, just get rid of the sentence. If there's only one download option shown, techies will assume the device was detected. Others don't care.

If the device was not detected, continue to say "Please select the appropriate link..."
