I have not heard anything good about Vista yet, but I'm wary of Mac users nay-saying just to nay-say. The cult is powerful.

My cousin's hot girlfriend got a new Dell without asking me first, and it came loaded with Vista. The thing is so painfully slow, cost her $2000, and just shuts down, at random, about every 10 minutes. Can you ask your IT guy, or is there anybody out there that is experiencing the same problem? I don't use Vista, and I think I'd waste a lot of time trying to figure it out myself.

Hi Aziz, thought I'd chime in really quick here. As for your specific issue I haven't seen that, other than with a specific Windows Update that affected us. I've been working on that issue for a few days now with no specific luck. I've found that most of the time the issue is Windows Update and disabling it may fix you up. That's obviously not a good fix as you won't be getting future updates but if you tried that at least you'd know where the issue is. I wrote a little script (Brad links to it above) that you can use to fully disable Windows Update. I'd say give that a go - feel free to ping me back at ross@foundrygroup.com - I'm happy to see if I can help ya out.
