I think Jared would be the first person to acknowledge that what he is posting is his opinion and point of view. He's also over there for more than one day - he's been there since Thanksgiving and has been writing long pieces on his experiences and views there.

I believe everyone gets to have their own opinion on this. Observations like Jared's are just observations - you (and everyone else) gets to process them however they want.) I've known Jared for a long time - he has strong points of view, but they are ones that are developed by his experiences, research, and beliefs. He also doesn't try to impose them on anyone else, but he is willing to let it all hang out there so you know what he's thinking. I wish more people running for office were this transparent about their thoughts, views, and ideas.

Er... By running for office, isn't Jared trying to impose his ideas on others (citizens - mainly those who disagree with him)?

Unfortunately much of Jared's post is insinuation and assumption with a sprinkling of fact. One day in Iraq cannot lead to any conclusions. Take the renaming of the roads for example; this is for military purposes and so that it is easier to remember the names of roads. If you have ever been to Atlanta you will realize that 30% of the roads have the word Peachtree included in the name somewhere...the same idea has been applied in Baghdad. The Iraqis still call the roads whatever there original names are. In fact, they aren't supposed to know the military names as a matter of security. I also think the use of buzzwords like corporatization serve no good. Insinuating that there will be a mutiny serves no good. It is like me saying there could be an earthquake soon because we haven't had one in a while. Assuming that the owners of the homes being leased not getting market rates is nothing more than conjecture. I like Jared, but I think he should be a bit more open-minded when it comes to Iraq instead of only looking for things to reaffirm his pre-existing beliefs. Just an opinion.

Brad,
Where's the RSS link on Jared's site? I want to read about his activities and opinions, but I consume all of my news via RSS. I saw the option of signing up for updates. I don't need anymore email. Is it an odd election law issue or a marketing issue?
