Calling All Bloggers – Get Lijit

I love companies with a clear mission in life.  FeedBurner’s was “we will do all kinds of wonderful things for your feed.”  Lijit’s is “we will do all kinds of wonderful things for search on your blog.”  Lijit’s goal is simple:

Replace

Search1

with

Search2

The new Lijit home page is up and it’s simpler and clearer than ever to add Lijit Search to your blog.  Just enter your blog URL into the “Want a Wijit?” box and you’ll be up and running in a minute.

Search3

Lijit even now has Facebook integration.  Let your Facebook friends search all of your content (your blog(s), delicious tags, YouTube videos, Linkedin data, StumbleUpon stumbles, Twitters, and so much more) from within your Facebook page.

Search4

Try it.  You’ll like it.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

i wish lejit looked liked the first picture (before picture)with the same sort of functionality. as it stands i think it is too busy and over-branded.

Well, I guess they are getting there but not ready for prime time.

Two things, lijit didn’t like my url and I am hosted on Wordpress.com, so…no luck there either.

Since so many people use hosted blog software there is huge opportunity missed.

@hubs – you can have a simple search box only with Lijit also (and all the additional functionality – but just not visible in the wijit.) See http://stan.feld.com for an example.

@Rob – yes – much to Lijit’s frustration, it can not be used with WordPress.com since they have a closed widget system. We’ve asked to be included but have to date been rejected. Apparently Lijit isn’t popular enough for this – see http://www.lijit.com/blog/2007/07/04/whats-a-hosted-wordpresscom-user-to-do/

Brad..yes, understood. One of my complaints about Wordpress is their lack of extensibility or willingness to extend. I have considered running my own copy of Wordpress but then I need to maintain it.

Lijit does look like a nice application and looks good on your blog.

Lijit works great in Typepad :-)

Thanks for the tip about putting it on my Facebook page, Brad. I’m gonna do that right now!
