The Best Numbers of the Week

Comments (9)

This morning, I noticed on Will Herman’s blog that on Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06 (at least in the US).  I plan to be awake to see it.  After three people sent me the same fact today (thanks!) I decided my obsession with numbers is starting to infect the universe (or maybe it’s the other way around.)

If you are into that kind of thing you probably may find my blog entry about Unix Epoch funny.

I think I’ll have to stay awake for that one too :P

I’ve received that email three times already. I decided to answer – I like numbers, but I’m obsessed with thinking differently….Here’s my answer:

That is not exactly correct. In the European date system at the same time on the 4th May 2006, the date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06… It’s the thruth, but there’s always a different view over the truth, even with numbers!

Are you going to Europe in early May to celebrate again?

Interesting coincidence, but how do you incorporate different date styles. Time is written left to right largest to smallest while Date is not. Date can noted day/month/year which gives better symmetry in a way; large to small, small to large. If taken this way, you could wait to stay up until the 4th of May.

I will be in Paris in May this year, but I’m not getting there until the 8th so I’ll miss the number the second time around.

    Brad,

Don’t lose much sleep over this. You can catch it again at 1:02 tomorrow afternoon (unless, of course, you’re on military time).

For the people who either saw this too late to enjoy it or can’t wait for more…

    Where’s the party for 1:01 and 2 seconds on March 5th, 2008? 1:01:02 03/05/08

    Or how about 2:03 and 5 seconds on July 11th, 2013? 02:03:05 07/11/13

How about 06:06:06 06/06/06? That’s coming up fairly soon. I don’t know what the hubbub is all about. If you look hard enough, you’ll find patterns in everything.
