It never ceases to amaze me how some people feel the need to take others down in order to make themselves feel better.

Congrats, Brad, on your run. We weren't much fun after the race, so I didn't try to track you down. Next time you're in Boston maybe.

Steve - congrats on finishing the marathon!

I was taken aback by your statements - it's not often I'm told that I'm insensitive to others or "an elitist." I have no recollection of "blowing you off in a trivial manner" - can you remind me of our interaction and how we connected?

My Microsoft Art comments were not intended to "brag" about my art collection. I just went back and reread them and suppose they could be interpreted that way. I just love art (I grew up with it everywhere - my mom is an artist) and those are the words that popped out of my head.

I'm sorry to report i agree with some of the stuff the critical writer had to say about your Boston number. He's right about your elitist attitude.

I was assured of that when i read about your thoughts regarding the Microsoft art collection. You went on to inform all of your readers "my family office, youve seen portion of my collection. While I dont have 4000+ pieces (like Microsoft), Ive probably got enough pieces to put together a web site at this point." Really - do we need to know about your family office and the extraordinary inference that says about you - why don't you tell us just how many pieces you have and whether you own a Botero, an Avery, a Motherwell, and so on. Come on - cut the crap.

So when you have those things to say it just can't be so heart felt regarding your Boston charity comments.

And last but not least - I'm 13 years older than you - i'm not proud but nonetheless I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and i finished Boston 35 minutes before you did. Oh - and BTW - i also had an invitational Boston bib. And regarding the correctness of that bib the guy can go "F" himself - he's a cry baby - too bad he doesn't have enough people to raise the charitable money or enough of his own to donate himself.

You & I have connected before and you blew me off in a trivial manner. I don't have any angst about it - I've raised over $40mm for two of my companies from guys IDENTICAL to you. But it's hard to really accept your emotional response & plea to the author's accusations when - firsthand - and publicly - you're obviously insensitive to others and an elitist. sorry - but it's true.

this "run a marathon in each state by the time I'm 50" is a great idea, but why dont you forget some of the boring states and substitute the capitals of the G8 countries, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc then throw in Dublin for the fun of it :-)

I kept an eye out for you at the corner of Hertford and Boyleston. Walked over to see the men/women/chair finishers, went back to work, then walked over again around 5:30, I must have just missed you. Congrats on the run, my first 10k is coming up next month.
