Best Google Search of The Day

Comments (16)

From the guys who brought us Candy Bar Sex (Chris Wand and his dad Martin) comes the best Google search I’ll do today.

  • Go to Google.
  • Search for “French military victories”.
  • Hit “I’m Feeling Lucky”
  • Laugh (unless you are French, at which point you should start a petition to boycott Google)

Entertainingly, when I do an “I’m Feeling Lucky” on my name, my blog comes up.  Maybe I should write a Greasemonkey script that changes the button to “I’m Feeling Ego-Self-Referential.”

Kind of like the old stand up routine regarding the Canadian Air Force…shouldn't it be called more the Canadian Air Suggest because they are not really going to "force" anything.

    French Military Victories

As a graduate of the Israeli command and Staff College and a former carrier officer I have a lot of interest in military history. That is probably why I enjoyed the following Google search results so much…   (Via Brad Fled )

Quite funny indeed. If you do the same with “US military history”, what will pop up is what we actually think about everything related to military. This may explain some recent transatlantic discrepancies on how to manage world’s affairs.

    Cheers from Paris, France.

What’s amazing is that this particular googlebomb has stood up for so long. I first saw this one a couple of years ago. Indeed, the last-modified header says May 14, 2001 – I’d always thought this was in reaction to France’s anti-war stance in Iraq but it predates even 9/11, if Last-Modified reflects the actual file date.

That’s halarious…. if it wasnt for the U.S. back in WWII, the french would be speaking German.

I can name one off the top of my head: Yorktown.

Zmann… if it wasnt for the French military aid back in 1780, the american would be speaking Cockney.

I’d not judge a country by the number of wars they won (or pretend to have to) but rather by the number of wars they avoid by their ability to solve a conflict instead of wiping it away with a couple of missiles
