Ultramon – Fantastic If You Have Two Or More Monitors

Comments (9)

I have used a two monitor setup for several years (I’m about to try three just for the hell of it.)  I discovered Ultramon the other day, downloaded it, and my life will never be the same.  If you use two more more monitors on your PC setup, this is a must have app.

Following are some of the features that I’m already using:

  • Multi-monitor windows management
  • Taskbar on each monitor (showing only apps on that monitor)
  • Tie apps to particular monitor
  • Setup / switch between multiple display profiles
  • Different wallpaper on each monitor
  • Different screen savers for each monitor

There are plenty of other features, some of which I’m sure I’ll discover over time.  Installation is trivial and was flawless for me.  I’ve been using it for three days and can’t imagine not having it.

There is a similer application which I have heard good things about, and that is Synergy 2. This seems as if it has more features, and the fact that it allows developers to create addons is always a bonus.

That’s pretty cool. Because for about $998 you can buy 2 dell 20″ wide-screen plat panel monitors (on Dell Outlet). But $998 won’t get you one Dell 24″ wide screen.

You may also want to try Virtual Dimension which is a free desktop manager. It has some tricks like window transperency as well as “alaways on top” for a window. I have been using it for a year since the office made me use Windows and without it I don’t know how I could function.

I was using this with my old CRT’s back in the day. Now I use CineMastery on my new quad screen array from CineMassive Displays CineMastery appears to be some sort of more modern upgraded variant of the older Ultramon I knew and loved. Wonderful stuff. Works beautifully.
