VNU – NewsGator France

  • One Comment

NewsGator recently announced a broad European partnership with VNU. The first fruit of their labors went live today – the French VNU / NewsGator RSS reader.  Coincidentally, I had breakfast with Dominique Busso who is in charge of this effort for VNU.  Not surprisingly, Dominique is friends with Loic Le Muir at Six Apart and has embraced Typepad as part of their infrastructure, including the very clever nanopublishing effort called VNUNet Blogs.  While I can’t understand much of the French on the blogs, it’s pretty impressive to see a mainstream publisher like VNU so aggressively embracing RSS, blogging, and nanopublishing

It seems like NewsGator places lot of focus on media players. I thought they were going to focus on the enterprise market more. I know the media space sounds more fun and interesting but the enteprise market is a large opportunity and it has received much less attention.

I’ve been involved deploying wiki and blog technology in a couple of top ten financial services companies and in the business units these guys has still hardly even heard of blogs and wikis before we started talking to them.

Deploying a next generation CMS/RSS combo as a replacement for their current email/kb/document management technology is a huge opportunity.
