Beyond Clicks, Opens & Bounces

One of my companies – Return Path – recently released a white paper called Beyond Clicks, Opens & Bounces. This white paper talked about metrics that help marketers understand email performance. This has some obvious parallels to the struggle I’ve been having to determine what my blog stats mean.

Regarding your Blog stats, I was curious if you had a significant number of visitors/readers subscribe to receive posts via email.
I would assume that most readers probably open for RSS feeds or other means of accessing your posts. However, if you were able to collect a decent base of email subscribers, you might be able to survey them to get additional information on a segment of your most loyal audience.
This may be one small means to supplement your blog stats.

Very few have subscribed by email (I’ve got five subscriptions, not including myself). I’ve been using Bloglet which seems to be pretty effective and is easy to implement. I suspect that while services like Bloglet are beginning to appear, it’s a lot more compelling to get RSS feeds by email from within Outlook using Newsgator (which is what I use).
