Jobs invested in Pixar when it was not popular to do so, he ran the company and waited 20 years for his return. Those are decidedly NOT what VCs do. Pixar is no Flickr.

Well - Flickr wasn't a VC deal either! There is no question that Pixar isn't a VC deal, as the duration of a typical VC deal is 5 to 7 years. However, Pixar clearly was a spectacular investment for Steve Jobs.
