Counting on the American People

Amy and I were co-hosts for Mark Udall’s summer solstice party today.  Mark has become a friend and is one of the few politicians I’ve really come to admire.

The quote of the afternoon was from Winston Churchill – “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing – after they’ve tried everything else.”

Mark reminded all of us that one of the great American traits is optimism.  Right on my friend.

  • Thanks for the uplifting post, Brad. I’m about half way through McCullough’s biography of John Adams right now. I am absolutely amazed at the sacrifice Adams, among others, made. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s almost a spiritual experience learning about the ideals and people that laid the foundation of freedom that has allowed us to become who we are. The big question is, Have we lived up to their legacy?
